I didn’t sleep on Thursday night, and just kept working on my school work. Met Sue in the lab for our research assignment after I had submitted the behavior essay. I just keep working till 8pm in school.

Basically, after 46 hours without sleep, I just slept my whole Saturday and woke up to cook dinner before I watched the Champions League Final 2011.
When Manchester United got behind the ball and defended against Barcelona, it was considered as “tactical genius” by critics. When Arsenal did the same against Barcelona, it was “not attacking enough”. When Manchester United lost, it was “no shame to lose to the best team in the world.”. When Arsenal lost, it was “you can never win with boys.” Seriously!?

I always love comebacks, unless I’m at the receiving end of it.
The UEFA Champions League Final in 2005 is the most inspirational come back I’ve seen. Liverpool was down 3-0 against the then best team in the world AC Milan. Liverpool is the underdog to make it to the final. When you look at the starting eleven of Milan, every piece is perfect.
I am always interested to know what happened in the Liverpool dressing room at half time. Since I’ve Gerrard’s biography tonight, I read the part on the Istanbul night.
Gerrard (captain) spoke to the team before the game
“We are Liverpool and Liverpool belong in the European Cup final. Just look at our fans. Listen to them. Look at how much this means to them. It means the world. Don’t let them down. You don’t realise the reaction you will get from these fans if you win. You will be a hero for the rest of your life. This is our chance, our moment. Don’t let it slip. We have come this far, let’s not give it up tonight. Let’s start well, get into them, show them we’re Liverpool. Lads, no regrets. As expected, morale was low. Even Carragher (vice captain) gave up,
“Let’s just stop this being 5-0. Let’s not have a massacre here.”
Benitez (manager) stepped in.
“Silence.”
Followed by tactical instruction. He then worked on the players’ minds,
“Don’t let your heads drop. You are playing for Liverpool. Don’t forget that. You have to hold your heads high for the supporters. You cannot call yourself a Liverpool player if you have your heads bowed. The supporters have come a long way. Don’t let them down. Believe you can do it and we will. Give yourselves a chance to be heroes.”
The Liverpool fans were singing the famous ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.
Gerrard led the team again.
“Listen. Listen to that. They haven’t given up on us, so we can’t give up either. The fans are with us. Let’s give them something to shout about. They’ve spent loads of money. They’re singing our name and we are getting stuffed 3-0. If we get one, they’ll get behind us even more. That will help put another one in for us. Come on, let’s have a go!”
Liverpool went on to score 3 goals within a 6 minutes interval, then went on to win the impossible come back with penalties.

By singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, the fans sent a message to eleven shattered men in the dressing room: the fans will be with you , through the wind and the rain, through times of adversity like this. No matter how much the players hurt, we’d never walk alone. Our fans were with us. Together. Their message was to play for some respect, play for pride in the shirt.
